Foundation sealing

Waterproof and water-repellent membranes create a sealed barrier to protect your foundation from moisture and water. These membranes ensure that your wall is not in direct contact with the ground and help slow down the deterioration of the concrete.

Installing a waterproof membrane eliminates the risk of water infiltration and prevents excessive humidity in your home’s basement.

THE GOUDRONS DU QUÉBEC SOLUTION

The Importance of Waterproof and Water-Repellent Membranes

Foundation waterproofing is often overlooked by builders. However, it is the best protection you can provide for both your health and the structural integrity of your home.

Whether you are building a new property or looking to renovate the foundation of an existing building, waterproofing is the ideal solution to achieve a better insulated basement, free from moisture and water infiltration.

Moreover, if your property is located in a flood-prone area, it is essential to install a water-repellent membrane.

Why hire professionals to install waterproofing membranes for your foundation?

The services of a specialist are essential to choose the right membrane and install it properly. We will recommend the best product based on your soil conditions and specific needs.

Furthermore, we use only high-quality products, carefully selected from the leading manufacturers for their technical features, effectiveness, and durability.

Types of membranes and waterproofing techniques

We offer various types of membranes for institutional, commercial, and residential sectors. We carry different product lines from brands such as:

  • Delta

  • Henry Bakor

  • Tremco

  • Soprema

  • And many others.

Several methods are available depending on the nature of your soil and your specific objectives. By combining foundation waterproofing with an effective drainage system, you ensure a long-lasting future for your property.

Foundation Waterproofing – Residential Building

Pressure-applied tar

This water-repellent treatment is a quick and effective solution to prevent any accumulation and absorption of moisture on the buried parts of your foundation.

Pressure-applied tar can be applied as early as the day after formwork removal, and backfilling can be done 24 hours later.

The DELTA®-MS membrane

This product can be applied on concrete walls as well as on concrete blocks or treated wood, and it can even be installed on a damp wall.

The DELTA®-MS membrane creates an air gap between the membrane and your home’s wall, which improves your property’s thermal insulation and reduces basement humidity levels, while also providing optimal drainage.

The DELTA® Drain membrane

This product can be used for drainage in hillside constructions and on the foundations of residential buildings. It can also be applied in other areas, such as on insulated formworks and Berlin walls, over foundation waterproofing products, and more.

The DELTA® Drain membrane effectively prevents the flow of underground moisture through cracks and fissures in your foundation walls. It eliminates water accumulation near the foundation and improves the drainage of your soil.

The Tremco Watchdog spray-applied membrane

This product is sprayed evenly over the entire foundation wall to prevent water infiltration. This membrane offers an elasticity of 1800%.

The Tremco Watchdog spray-applied membrane is made of a water-based, non-flammable, and environmentally friendly substance. Its composition is tested in independent laboratories to ensure it does not cause any harmful leaching.

Foundation Waterproofing – Commercial Building

The Berlin wall

A Berliner wall is a retaining wall designed to hold back soil around an excavation. It can be installed temporarily (until the building structure can withstand the pressure) or permanently (becoming an integral part of the foundation system).

This technique provides a reliable, efficient, and safe earth retention system. It enables excavation and earthworks in urban environments without compromising the safety of workers or surrounding structures.

Each Berliner wall is custom-designed based on the soil conditions, water infiltration, surrounding risks, excavation depth, and any other variables that may affect its composition and effectiveness.

The COLPHENE BSW membrane

This membrane is ideal for waterproofing Berliner walls. It protects the infrastructure against potential infiltration that could occur between the concrete walls of the two buildings. Moreover, during the curing process, the sanded surface of the membrane fuses with the foundation, preventing any leaks.

The COLPHENE BSW membrane is applied to the existing wall of an adjacent building before pouring the concrete for the new foundation. This waterproofing process is often carried out in urban environments and underground parking structures.

The letters “BSW” stand for “Blind Side Waterproofing,” referring to the fact that after application, the membrane is hidden between two concrete structures.

The DELTA®-MS membrane

This product can be applied to concrete walls as well as concrete blocks or treated wood, and it can even be installed on a damp wall.

The DELTA®-MS membrane creates an air gap between the membrane and the wall of your commercial building, which enhances the building’s thermal insulation and reduces basement humidity levels, while also providing optimal drainage.

The DELTA® Drain membrane

This product can be used for drainage in hillside constructions and on the foundations of light commercial buildings. It can also be applied in other areas, such as on insulated formworks and Berliner walls, over foundation waterproofing products, and more.

The DELTA® Drain membrane effectively prevents the flow of underground moisture through cracks and fissures in your foundation walls. It eliminates water accumulation near the foundation and improves the drainage of your commercial site.

Tremco membranes

We use several products from the Tremco brand for the waterproofing and sealing of foundations.

Here are the Tremco membranes we prioritize, along with their specific uses:

  • Tremproof 260 membrane: A spray-applied liquid polymer membrane reinforced with an asphalt emulsion that can be applied on damp concrete.

  • Tremproof 250 GC membrane: A cold-applied liquid elastomer membrane that can be applied only 24 hours after concrete removal.

Soprema membranes

We use several products from the Soprema brand for foundation waterproofing and sealing.

Here are the Soprema membranes we prioritize along with their specific uses:

  • COLPHENE BSW membrane: A self-adhesive membrane ideal for waterproofing Berliner walls or for placement between two concrete slabs.

  • COLPHENE Torch’n Stick membrane: A heat-weldable membrane that ensures full adhesion to the wall and fuses the joints together.

  • SOPRALÈNE FLAM 180 membrane: A heat-weldable membrane providing complete adhesion to walls or concrete slabs and fuses the joints together.

  • COLPHENE 3000 membrane: A membrane made of polymer-modified bitumen with the most reliable self-adhesive SBS polymers in the industry, combined with a trilaminar polyethylene fabric, which provides greater flexibility. This membrane is ideal for waterproofing foundation walls and buried concrete surfaces.
